But it is still enjoyable reading, tho I wished I had had at hand as I read it a set of the U.S. Reports of U.S. Supreme Court cases. It is amazing that Justice Miller thought nothing of sitting on cases||Mr. Fairman has written the best biography of an American judge since Beveridge's Life of John Marshall. --Charles E.
